Doctor`s contracts can be complicated and intimidating. Often, potential physicians feel that most of the text is « ordinary » and « non-negotiable. » The most dangerous assumption is that problematic sections are unenforceable. Even if a court may ultimately determine that a contract term is unenforceable, the employee still has to spend a lot of time and money arguing their case. Before entering into an employment contract, it is important to understand exactly what each sentence and section means and what potential problems these terms may cause to the potential employee in the future. Often, under definitions and terms « boilerplate » hide anything but « ordinary » and, in most cases, employers are willing to negotiate to make their potential employees confident in choosing their job.
